White Sox 5 – Tigers 10

Posted by Titus on August 25, 2012

The Tigers took the field today battered and bruised from Thursday night’s game.  They knew that  they needed a strong game in all aspects to “right the ship”.

The first inning started off perfect.  Dave Purkey pitched a 1-2-3 top half to get the Tigers off to a great start.  Dan Titus started the scoring in the bottom half of the first inning with a solo home run (this one was fair) over the left field fence.  The Tigers left a few more runners on base than desired in the 1st and 2nd innings which kept the game within reach for the White Sox until the 5th.  The Tiger offense finally kicked into gear with a 2 run home run by Dennis McGarel.

A couple more runs put on the board thanks to Scott Harris, Ryan Lytle,Tim Mullally, Joe Anaya (first triple of the year), and another RBI by Dan Titus put the game out of reach.  Dennis McGarel pitched brilliantly to close out the game.  With 1 out and a runner on third in the top of the 7th, a fly ball to right field should have scored another run for the White Sox, but a great catch and laser throw from Jeff Nelson to home to get the sliding runner ended the game and sent the White Sox to the loser’s bracket.

Positives:

  • Dan Titus has found his swing again
  • Pitching by Dave Purkey and Dennis McGarel was great
  • Defense improved tremendously
  • Timely hitting
  • Aggressive base running

Negatives:

  • A couple of errors
  • Left some runners on that should have scored

Other than those negatives; it was a well-played game by the Tigers.  The Tigers face The Outlaws on Tuesday.  Some much-needed revenge is in order.  Come on down to the sportsplex to cheer on your Tigers.

Saturday’s Practice

Posted by sharris2929 on March 17, 2011

It has been decided that we will not have practice this Saturday, March 19th, due to lack of available players.

With that being said, here are some other activities that you can do on Saturday morning now that we don’t have practice:

  • Get prepared for UFC 129 on Saturday night, featuring a highly anticipated Light Heavyweight championship fight between the legendary Mauricio Shogun Rua and next generation up and comer Jonny Bones Jones.
  • Spend a quiet moment alone weeping over the failure that is your NCAA Bracket.
  • Play Call of Duty with Titus (he’ll probably still be up playing from the night before)
  • Take advantage of the weather by cleaning out your garage.  If you don’t have a garage that needs cleaning out, I do!  Contact me if you are interested.
  • Use social networking websites such as Facebook or Twitter to spread the word about your baseball team’s website
  • Recover from your hangover you’ve likely had since St. Patrick’s day
  • Read a book*
  • Spend time with your family*

Check back here for information on future practices.

*Probably Not
